What to do About Limo Spills

Riding in a limousine and sipping a glass of champagne sounds like it would end in disaster more often than it actually does. However, while your limousine chauffeur will be experienced at handling their limo and will have extensive defensive driving skills to avoid any hint of an accident or sudden stop before it happens, they still cant see the future and it may happen that your limousine becomes unstable and you spill your drink. So what do you do?

If the spill is your fault because you were messing about in the back of the limo and knocked over or dropped your glass, then you should do the right thing and offer to pay for the cleaning of the limousine and should not expect any compensation for your dry cleaning bills. While a good limousine hire company and chauffeur wont accept your offer, you should at least show you acknowledge it is your fault and are willing to rectify it.

However, if the spill occurs because of an accident the limo is involved in or another unavoidable traffic element which causes the limo to lurch and you to lose your drink, you should not have to pay for any cleaning and dont feel like you need to offer to either.

If the spilt drink covers you and the limousine, your chauffeur or limo hire company should at least offer to pay for your dry cleaning and for any other expenses you incur because of the spill missing a show or a dinner reservation because you have to go home and change.

If the limo hire company is serving drinks from its limo bar, it should be willing to accept the consequences of any spills which occur when its passengers utilise this service. For this reason many limo hire companies dont stock their limo bar, or they fill their decanters with decorative water which is not expected to be consumed.

So if you find your limo has a stocked bar, find out what the limo hire company is willing to do if they accept responsibility for a spill, and if you were expecting a fully stocked limo bar, check that is what you are getting before you sign.
